Meet Our Church Staff

Pastor Mike and Kathy have been married 41 years and have three grown children, two daughters-in-law and one son-in-law, and seven grandchildren in north Alabama and one in Heaven. Mike attended Florida Baptist Theological College (now the Baptist University of Florida) and earned a Batchelor’s degree in Theology. Mike has served on staff at Ponderosa Bible Camp in Mentone, AL and has also served churches in Alabama and Northwest Florida. Mike’s hobbies include watching grandchildren sports events and UGA football.

​DeVann Jackson was born in Mentone, Alabama. He has been married to his amazing wife, Teresa, for 44 years. He has one daughter, Hannah, who is 33 years old. He graduated from Valley Head High School in 1974. He studied music at Samford University for 3 years. He graduated from UAH with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He worked for 23 years at SAIC in Huntsville, Alabama. He is now enjoying his retirement. Ministry: DeVann was saved at Moon Lake Baptist church when he was 15 years old. He surrendered to the call to music ministry at 18 years old. He has been serving the Lord through music for around 50 years. Currently he is serving at VHBC as permanent part-time music minister. He leads worship in song by playing guitar and singing solos. He started a Praise Team with some of the ladies at church. They have been a blessing to me, the Lord, and the church. He's in the process of trying to start an adult choir, or at least an ensemble to get more people involved in praising the Lord through song. He is looking forward to anyway that God can use him and others to best serve him. His favorite Bible verses are Colossians 3:16-17.

Married to Bobby Holloway for 36 years. One daughter, Ella, three step children, Seth, Cia, Blake, 10 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. Retired preschool teacher Attend Valley Head Baptist I teach youth Sunday school classes and serve as the youth director. I recently became the Sunday school director. My hobbies include painting, reading, and gardening. Life verse: Mathew 16:24

Teresa Cook Cooper, better known as TC, has been a member at VHBC for 42 years. She and husband Van have been married for 48 years. They have two adult children, Tyler (Crystle), and Lana (Will). They have also been blessed with four grandchildren, Evy & Jack Cooper, and Cooper & Claire McCurdy. TC has worked with children and youth for more than 40 years at VHBC and views this as an honor and privilege. She currently teaches children in the Kidz Konnection ministry on Wednesday nights. She also enjoys teaching the Ladies Sunday School class. TC encourages everyone to come experience the sweet Spirit at VHBC!

I was born in Fort Payne, Alabama. I have been a member of Valley Head Baptist Church since January 20, 1982. One son Nicholas Freeman. I teach 4th-6th grade Sunday School class and Children's Church. Currently serving as Director of Vacation Bible School and Children's Church. My hobbies include decorating for VBS, hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

I am originally from southeast Texas, where I received my bachelor’s degree in hospitality administration at Stephen F. Austin State University. God led me to Mentone, AL in 2017, where I began my teaching journey as an outdoor education teacher at Nature’s Classroom. I quickly fell in love with this part of Alabama and have created a wonderful life with my husband and two beautiful children. I have now been at Fort Payne Headstart as a preschool teacher for 4 years. Here I felt led to go back to school and have completed my associate’s degree in early childhood education. I joined Valley Head Baptist Church in the fall of 2023, and I have never felt more at home. God has led me into an amazing journey, and I am excited to see all of the children he brings to our church!

Lesa Smith serves as the church pianist, providing musical accompaniment during services.
